This is my interpretation of what Rocket League may have looked like if it was created during the Nintendo 64 era of game titles.  It started out as a project to teach myself how to make a game from beginning to end using Godot as my engine, and turned into a fun design challenge to replicate a style of gaming from the late 90's.

Avid fans of RL may notice that not all controls are present, nor are all of the mechanics (such as super sonic speeds or camera controls).  But my goal was not to make a 1-to-1 replica of the game.  Rather, I wanted to make a game that looks and feels like it was made for the N64.  And I'm pretty happy with the results!

Let me know what you think too!  Have fun!

The Windows or Linux Versions are recommended.  The shaders don't load correctly for the in-browser version, but it should still be fully playable.

The flip is abit too floaty i would change it to make you got forward faster and for the car to come down alittle faster aswell. I would also recommend making a change keybinds button in the settings because im too sued to my rocket league controls (if you read this im a big fan of the game its very well made) The jump is also a bit too floaty, but because of this its easy to airdribble so you can keep this as a n64 special.

thanks for the recommendations! Im working on a new update that already has custom control mapping. Hoping to get it ready soon!

there's input latency in browser

What browser are you using?  I'm using a chromium based browser and I don't see any noticeable input latency.

Chrome with a DualShock 4 controller connected via USB. If you want I can post my laptop's specs.

Hmm, I'm not sure then.  I noticed that the steering and acceleration can appear delayed since they are implemented via a physics controller, rather than a kinematic controller.

I'll be uploading a new build fairly soon.  If you'd still like to try it out, perhaps one of the downloadable versions will work better for you.

the camera will clip thru things, is there a way to change cam angles?

There isn't a way to adjust the camera in game at the moment.  But I'm planning to add different camera modes in the next update

I accidentally got this glitch where the goal explosion sent me out the arena! I was back in the arena in time for kick off though.

your goal was just way too powerful :D

This is really cool! Maybe you can add a mode where you can play with other people online. I'm thinking maybe it can be a Minecraft type situation where you have to host it yourself instead of it being one central server.

The only downsides are: No goal explosions in freeplay, and no botmode.

Yeah I plan to add some more features for Free play in the next update.  You're right, having no goal explosion in free play is a bit underwhelming

WHERE'S THE SOURCE CODE, I WANT TO EXPAND ON THIS GAME!! PLS!, WE NEED SOURCE CODE!

Thanks for showing  your interest in the game!  I don't plan on releasing the source code at the moment, but I'll try to release some updates soon!

BRUH! -_- k then. *cries*

If you ever decided to make it open source on GitHub or something I would love to contribute :) Thanks for the awesome game!

any plans to release the godot project sources? Would be great to learn from that <3

Will you be adding a way to change key bindings? I really wanna push this to the limits, but my 1300 hours of muscle memory are kinda nullified without customizable key bindings :/ Anywho, really neat idea and I hope to see more interesting games like this one.

No plans at the moment. But I'll post here again if I do decide to add that feature. I understand that feeling of having custom bundings

This was awesome! Lil Beef likes Rocket League and the 64 style so we had to play. You did an excellent job using the split screen and mapping the controls for 2 people on 1 keyboard. It feels, looks and plays like an old Nintendo 64 cartridge. We hope you create more because you nailed this. Keep up the good work. This would have been a great party game back in the day.

I'm really glad you guys like it! Thanks for checking it out, and for the kind words :D

Any possibility of a Linux build?

(+3)

I just uploaded a Linux build tonight! Please let me know if it works for you, as I don't have a system to test it on at the moment.

Works just as expected. Thank you!
